Mordecai Gist portrait engraving. Engraving is not signed nor does it have any other form of identification. It merely has "MORDECAI GIST" printed in block letters beneath it. Mordecai Gist (1742-1792): Born 1742 in Baltimore, Maryland; died 1792 in Charleston, South Carolina. Member of a prominent Maryland family who became a general in command of the Maryland Line in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Johann Kalb (1721-1780): American general in the Revolution.
